Course Agenda

1. Theory: Understanding Objectives and Key Results (OKRs) and Their Benefits

Ben will begin by discussing the concepts behind OKRs, or Objectives and Key Results. Specifically, he’ll discuss how this goal-setting framework helps teams better manage priorities while facilitating organizational alignment.

Duration: 6 minutes

2. Discussion: Defining Our Team Objectives

Once the team understands what OKRs are and how they’re beneficial, they will get a chance to collaborate on a set of problem statements. Once established, the team will evolve each one into a positive, action-oriented objective.

Duration: 15 - 25 minutes

3. Theory: Understanding Key Results and How Can We Develop Them

Next, Ben will explain how Key Results represent a team’s progress toward a specified objective. He’ll also outline the three characteristics all strong key results have in common.

4. Discussion: Developing Key Results with the Team

Here, the group will take some of the most important objectives from the previous discussion and create several key results for each one. This exercise will provide valuable insight into how this can be done in day-to-day operations.

There’s so much value in having everyone in the team on the same page. However, facilitating that can be incredibly difficult – not to mention time-consuming. This team course really laid out the OKR concept in clear, simple terms. I can already see the difference in how my employees collaborate and coordinate."

General

What are goal-setting objectives and key results?

OKRs (Objectives and Key Results) allow individuals and teams to establish challenging and ambitious objectives alongside quantifiable outcomes. This approach can be utilized to monitor progress, foster alignment, and boost participation by establishing measurable goals.

What are characteristics of objectives and key results?

Objectives should be concise, inspiring, and captivating, designed to energize and push the team forward. Key results, on the other hand, consist of metrics that gauge your advancement towards these objectives. You should aim to define between two to five key results for each objective.

How do you develop goals and objectives?

You can utilize SMART goals to help you develop objectives:
  • Specific - Goals should be clear and specific, answering the who, what, where, when, and why to provide direction and help focus efforts.
  • Measurable - It’s important to have criteria for measuring progress toward the accomplishment of the goal. This helps to stay on track and meet deadlines.
  • Achievable - Goals should be realistic and attainable, stretching your abilities while remaining possible to achieve.
  • Relevant - The goal must matter to you or align with other relevant objectives, ensuring that it’s worthwhile and fits within broader goals or plans.
  • Time-bound - Every goal needs a target date, so that you have a deadline to focus on and something to work toward.

What is included with each Teamioed team course?

Each Teamioed soft skills training session consists of a 45-minute to 1-hour guided learning experience. Leaders, managers or individual contributors are provided with a course and summary guide to help them direct each team learning and development exercise. However, our knowledgeable Teamioed virtual coaches will handle most of the work, so there’s minimal preparation involved. Simply gather the team together and get ready to learn!

Does Teamioed provide coaching tips or resources for managers?

We do! Leaders, managers or team leaders are provided with an in-depth guide covering each team eLearning course. This lets them better understand what we’ll cover in the soft skills training experiences. It also gives them valuable information on how to contribute to the Learning experience and development activities.

Where do I run a team course?

Teamioed’s team eLearning courses have been built to complement your team meetings or to be run as standalone team sessions. You can conduct the experience as an in-person or virtual meeting, as team-based soft skill learning is perfectly suited to any environment. Simply log in, access the session of your choice, and hit “begin.” It’s as easy as that. If you do plan to host your course remotely, just know that you will need to use virtual meeting software (e.g., Zoom, MS Teams, Slack, etc.) as Teamioed does not provide its own.

How do I access new Teamioed courses?
